RIPTA to Detour 11 Routes in Providence to Accommodate the Cox Charities Cycling Classic on Saturday, June 28th
Detours in Effect from 12 pm to 8:30 pm
June 25, 2008 - Providence, Rhode Island... The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour eleven bus routes in the Providence area on Saturday, June 28th in order to accommodate the Cox Charities Cycling Classic. The East Side Tunnel, South Main Street, Memorial Boulevard (eastbound lane between Washington and Crawford Street), Steeple Street (from North Main Street to the eastbound lane of Memorial Boulevard), Washington Street (between North Main Street and Memorial Boulevard) and South Water Street will be closed for the duration of the race.
The following routes will detour from 12 pm to 8:30 pm:
Route 33 (Riverside), Route 34 (East Providence)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard to I-95 South through to I-195 East and then resume the regular route.
Inbound Trips into Providence will travel the regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right onto the Broadway exit, right onto Broadway through to LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, then take a left onto Washington Street to the regular stop.
Route 35 (Rumford)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, and then resume the regular route.
Inbound: Trips leaving into Providence will travel the regular route to Angell Street and Hope Street, take a left onto Hope Street, a right onto Wickenden Street, right onto the on ramp to I-195 West through to I-95 North, right onto the Broadway exit, right onto Broadway through to LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, then take a left onto Washington Street to the regular stop.
Route 42 (Hope Street)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, and then resume the regular route.
Inbound: Trips into Providence will travel the regular route to Thayer Street and Waterman Street, turn left onto Waterman Street, right onto Hope Street, right onto Wickenden Street, right onto I-195 West, right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street, left onto Exchange Street through to the bus stop on Eddy Street.
Route 52 (Branch Avenue)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will leave via a left onto Washington Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street and then resume the regular route.
Inbound: Trips into Providence will travel the regular route.
Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Exchange Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street and then resume regular route.
Inbound: Trips into Providence will travel the regular route.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Washington Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard through to I-95 South through to I-195 East and then resume the regular route.
Inbound: Trips into Providence will travel the regular route to I-95 North, turn right onto the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street and then travel to the “Q” bus stop in Kennedy Plaza.
Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Steeple Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, right onto Steeple Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street through to the regular route.
Inbound: Trips into Providence will travel the regular route.
Route 78 (Beverage Hill)
Outbound: Trips leaving Providence will travel via a left onto Steeple Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Steeple Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street and then resume the regular route.
