STATE OFFICIALS ANNOUNCE THE OFFICIAL END OF THE “KEEP EDDY MOVING” PROGRAM

Program Discontinued Due to Near IWAY Completion

October 19, 2009 - Providence, Rhode Island... The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) and Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) together announced that the “Keep Eddy Moving” program has been discontinued effective immediately. As part of the “Keep Eddy Moving” program, anyone employed, attending school or volunteering at organizations within one half-mile of the intersection of Eddy and Dudley Streets, was eligible for hefty bus fare discounts, carpool incentives or free bicycle care packages.

The initiative, officially launched by state officials in July 2005, was designed to help reduce traffic congestion during critical phases of the I-195 Relocation Project. Due to the nearly completed IWAY construction project, the “Keep Eddy Moving” program has officially ended. Program coupon vouchers will no longer be accepted by RIPTA.

RIPTA and RIDOT would like to thank you for your participation in this highly successful campaign to reduce traffic congestion and pollution during this major highway relocation project.
