The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour twenty-one bus routes in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, October 19, 2025, in order to accommodate the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.

Routes 1, 3, 4, 17, 19, 21, 30, 31, 33, 34, 50, 55, 78, and 92 will be detoured from 8:15AM to 1:30PM.

Routes 14, 27, 28, 56, 57, 60 and 66 will be detoured from the first trip of the day until 1:30PM.

Bus Stops V, W, X, and Y will be temporarily relocated to Washington and Fulton Streets. Memorial Boulevard will be closed from Steeple Street to South Water Street during this time.

The following routes will be detoured on Sunday, October 19, 2025:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit)

Inbound trips (South) will travel the regular route to the intersection of the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.

Outbound trips (North) will travel the regular route to the intersection of Eddy and Dyer Streets, turn left onto Dorrance Street, and then right onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I. Trips will then turn left onto Exchange Street, right onto Stillman Street, right onto Park Row, right to Canal Street, left onto Washington Street and then resume regular route.

Route 3 (Oakland Beach)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, and then turn right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop B. Trips will not serve Providence Station.

Outbound trips will travel regular route.

Route 4 (Warwick Ave.)

Please refer to the Route 3 (Oakland Beach) detour.

Route 14 (West Bay):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street and then turn left onto Washington Street to the temporary bus stop next to the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center.

Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, continue onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South and then resume regular route.

Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Kennedy Plaza, turn right onto Exchange Street, turn right onto Fulton Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

Route 19 (Plainfield/Westminster)

Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.

Route 21 (Reservoir/Garden City)

Inbound trips will travel the regular routeto the Rte. 10 Dean Street Exit, turn right onto Dean Street, left onto Atwells Avenue, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will leave Fulton Street, turn right onto Francis Street, left onto Rte. 10 and then resume regular route.

Route 27 (Broadway/Manton)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to the temporary bus stop next to the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Sabin Street and then resume regular route.

Route 28 (Broadway/Hartford)

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn)

Inbound trips will travel the regular routeto the Rte. 10 Dean Street Exit, turn right at the Dean Street Exit, left onto Atwells Avenue, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C.

Outbound trips will leave Fulton Street, turn right onto Dorrance Street, continue onto Francis Street, turn left onto Rte. 10 and then resume regular route.

Route 31 (Cranston Street)

Please refer to the Route 17 (Dyer/Pocasset) detour.

Route 33 (Riverside)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to North Main Street, turn right onto North Main Street, left onto Park Row, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then right onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Washington Street, turn left onto Exchange Street, right onto Stillman Street, right onto Park Row, right onto Canal Street, left onto Washington Street and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence)

Route 50 (Douglas Ave.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street, continue onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Smith Streets, turn right onto Smith Street, left onto Gaspee Street, left onto Francis Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, right onto Gaspee Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to the temporary bus stop next to the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Dorrance Street, continue onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith Street)

Route 60 (Providence/Newport)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West through to I-95 North, turn right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, continue onto Dorrance Street, and then turn left onto Washington Street to the temporary bus stop next to the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center.

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, left onto I-95 South to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 66 (URI/Galilee)

Please refer to the Route 14 (West Bay) detour.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West to I-95 North, turn right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will leave Washington Street, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street to Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side)

WEST: Inbound trips from Riverview Place will travel the regular route to Wickenden Street, turn right onto South Main Street, continue onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel the regular route.

EAST: Inbound trips from Federal Hill will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J.

Outbound trips will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, continue onto I-195 East to the Gano Street Exit, turn left onto India Street, right onto Gano Street, left onto Wickenden Street, right onto Ives Street, left onto Trenton Street, left onto Governor Street, left onto Wickenden Street, left onto Ives Street and then resume regular route.

Routes 1, 33, 34, 35, 60, and 78 will be detoured from 8:30am until 11:30am in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in order to accommodate the Monster Dash 5K Road Race. The East Side Tunnel will be closed during this time.

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Northbound trips will travel regular route to Bus Stop I, then leave via Washington Street, continue on Waterman Street up College Hill and then resume regular route.

Southbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, turn right on Angell Street, continue through to Steeple Street, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, right on Fulton Street to Bus Stop D and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street at the corner of Thayer Street.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Angell Street, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop H via Washington Street, continue on Waterman Street up College Hill and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence/Seekonk Square):

Please refer to the Route 33 (Riverside) detour.

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Angell Street, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop H, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, continue onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West, continue onto I-95 North, turn right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop Y.

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop Y, turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the I-95 South on-ramp, continue onto I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill Ave./East Providence):

Please refer to the Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.) detour.

Routes 14 and 60 will be on detour on Sunday, October 19 from 6am to 10am to accommodate the Newport Bridge Run.

Route 14: The 8:13am and 9:11am Inbound trips will not serve the Newport Transportation Center or Jamestown. Both trips will start their Inbound service at Rte. 1A and Rte. 138.

Route 60: Inbound trips will travel regular route to Broadway, continue on Broadway through to Washington Square, turn left on Thames St., right onto America’s Cup Ave., left onto Long Wharf Mall, right onto Washington St., right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Rd., and then right to the Newport Transportation Center.

Wild Colonial Grog & Dog Jog: Sunday, October 19

Routes 35, 60 and 78 will be on detour from 3:30pm to 5pm. South Water Street will be closed during this time.

Inbound trips will travel regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Memorial Blvd., continue onto Dyer St. through to Eddy St., turn left onto Point St., right onto South Water St. and then resume regular route.

Woonsocket Columbus Day Parade: Monday, October 13

Routes 54 and 87 will be on detour from 9am to 11:30am. Service to Walnut Hill will be suspended during this time.

Route 54 Inbound will turn left onto Worrell St., left onto Social St., continue onto Main St. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Clinton Street and then lay off at the Park & Ride lot (113 Clinton St.).

Route 87 Eastbound trips from Fairmont will travel regular route to Railroad St., turn right onto Main St., left onto Clinton St., lay off at the Park & Ride lot (113 Clinton St.), then turn left onto Worrell St., left onto Social St., continue onto Main St. and then resume regular route.

Westbound is on the regular route.

Broadway Columbus Day Parade: Monday, October 13

Routes 60, 63, 67 and 68 will be on detour from 10am to 11am.

Routes 60 and 63:

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Broadway and Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., turn right onto Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd., right onto West Marlborough St., and then resume regular route.

Reverse on Outbound.

Routes 67 and 68:

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Memorial Blvd. and Bellevue Ave., turn right onto Bellevue Ave., continue onto Touro St. through to Washington Square, turn left onto Thames St. and then right onto Memorial Blvd. through to the Newport Transportation Center.

Outbound trips will leave the Newport Transportation Center, turn right onto America’s Cup Ave., left onto Marlborough St., right onto Thames St., left onto Washington Square, continue onto Touro St. through to Bellevue Ave. and then resume regular route.

Columbus Day Festival on Federal Hill: Friday, October 10 – Monday, October 13

Route 92 will be on detour from 12:30pm on Friday until the last trip on Monday. Atwells Avenue will be closed between John J. Partington Way and Knight Street during this time.

Westbound trips will travel regular route to John J. Partington Way, turn left onto Service Road, right onto Broadway, right onto Harris Ave., left onto Atwells Ave. and then resume regular route.

Eastbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Atwells and Harris Avenues, turn right onto Harris Ave., left onto Broadway, and then resume regular route.

During the parade on Sunday, October 12 from 8am to 11:30am, the detour will be adjusted slightly:

Westbound trips will travel regular route to John J. Partington Way, turn left onto Service Road, right onto Broadway, right onto Valley St., left onto Atwells Ave. and then resume regular route.

Eastbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Atwells and Harris Avenues, turn right onto Harris Ave., left onto Broadway, and then resume regular route.

At 11:30am, Route 92 will return to the first detour alignment.
