Routes 1, 33, 34, 35, 60, and 78 will be detoured on Saturday, May 23 from 10:30am to 12:30pm and on Sunday, May 24, 2026, from 9:00am to 12:00pm to accommodate Brown University’s Commencement. The East Side Tunnel will be closed on both days during this time.

The following detours are in effect on Saturday, May 23 from 10:30am to 12:30pm:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):

Northbound trips will travel regular route.

Southbound trips will travel regular route to Hope St. and Doyle Ave., turn right onto Doyle Ave., left onto North Main St. through to Canal St., right onto Steeple St., left onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Fulton Street and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Angell St., turn left onto Gano St., right onto the I-195 West onramp, right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis St., left onto Washington St. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Washington St., turn left onto Exchange St., left onto Memorial Blvd., continue onto I-95 South, turn right onto the I-195 East onramp, turn right at the Gano St. Exit, left onto India St., right onto Gano St., right onto Waterman St. and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence/Seekonk Square):

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Angell St., turn left onto Gano St., right onto the I-195 West onramp, right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis St., left onto Washington St. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to I-195 West, turn right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis St. through to Dorrance St., and then left onto Washington St. to Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips will travel regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill Ave./East Providence):

The following detours are in effect on Sunday, May 24 from 9:00am to 12:00pm:

Northbound trips will travel regular route to Kennedy Plaza Bus Stop I, turn left onto Exchange St., right onto Stillman St., right onto Park Row, left onto North Main St., right onto Olney St., left onto Hope St. and then resume regular route.

Southbound trips will travel regular route to Hope St. and Doyle Ave., turn right onto Doyle Ave., left onto North Main St. through to Canal St., right onto Steeple St., left onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Fulton Street and then resume regular route.

Route 60 (Providence/Newport):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to I-195 West, turn right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis St. through to Dorrance St., and then left onto Washington St. to Kennedy Plaza.

Outbound trips are on regular route.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill Ave./East Providence):

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Angell St., turn left onto Gano St., right onto the I-195 West onramp, right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis St., left onto Washington St. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips are on regular route.

Route 92 will be on detour Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 10 AM - 6 PM to accommodate the Fox Point Neighborhood Association Community Block Party.

Eastbound trips will travel regular route to Wickenden St., turn left onto Governor St., right onto East George St., left onto Ives St. and then resume regular route.

Reverse on Westbound.

Providence Marathon – Sunday, May 3

RIPTA will detour Route 34 from 7 AM to 3 PM.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Massasoit Ave., then left onto Waterman Ave., right onto Walnut St., cross Taunton Ave. to Potter St., turn left onto Warren Ave. and then resume regular route.

Inbound trips will travel regular route, turn right onto Warren Ave., right onto Potter St., cross Taunton Ave. to Walnut St., turn left onto Waterman Ave. and then resume regular route at Massasoit Ave.

RIPTA will detour Routes 60, 63 and 67 on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 9:45 am to 2:00 pm to accommodate the annual Aquidneck Island Police Parade.

Route 60 (Newport/Providence):

Inbound trips to the Newport Transportation Center via West Main Road between 9:45 am and 2 pm will travel the regular route on West Main Road, take a right onto Coddington Highway through to Connell Highway, travel around the rotary, take a right onto the Bridge Access ramp, bear left onto Connell Highway, travel through to Farewell Street, and then take a right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road into the Newport Transportation Center.

Inbound trips to the Newport Transportation Center via East Main Road between 9:45 am and 2 pm will travel the regular route on East Main Road, take a right onto West Main Road, left onto Coddington Highway through to Connell Highway, travel around the rotary, take a right onto the Bridge Access ramp, bear left onto Connell Highway, travel through to Farewell Street, and then turn right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road into the Newport Transportation Center.

Outbound trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center for West Main Road will turn right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell Street through to Connell Highway, right onto Admiral Kalbfus Road to the rotary, right onto Connell Highway, travel through to Coddington Highway, left onto West Main Road, and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center for East Main Road will turn right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell through to Connell Highway, right onto Admiral Kalbfus Road to the rotary, right onto Connell Highway, travel through to Coddington Highway, right onto West Main Road, left onto East Main Road, and then resume regular route.

Route 63 (Broadway/Shopping Center):

Inbound trips to the Newport Transportation Center between 9:45 am and 2:00 pm will travel from Stop and Shop, turn right onto West Main Road, right onto Coddington Highway, travel through to Connell Highway, circle the rotary, right onto Admiral Kalbfus Road, left onto Girard Avenue, right onto Maple Street, right onto Hillside Avenue, right onto Admiral Kalbfus Road, left onto the Newport Bridge access ramp, slight left onto Connell Highway through to Farewell Street and then turn into the Newport Transportation Center.

Outbound trips leaving the Newport Transportation Center between 9:45 am and 2:00 pm will turn right onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road, left onto America’s Cup Avenue, left onto Farewell Street through to Connell Highway, right into the Towne Center, right onto Coddington Highway, left onto West Main Road to Stop and Shop. Trips will not be able to service East Main Road.

Route 67 (Bellevue/Mansions/Salve Regina University):

Inbound trips to the Newport Transportation Center between 9:45 am and 2:00 pm will travel the regular route to Bellevue Avenue and Memorial Boulevard, turn left onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Gladys Carr Bolhouse Road and then turn into the Newport Transportation Center.

Outbound trips leaving the Newport Gateway Center between 9:45 am and 2:00 pm to Salve Regina University will travel the regular route to America’s Cup Avenue, then continue on America’s Cup Avenue to Memorial Boulevard, turn right onto Bellevue Avenue, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 will be detoured on Saturday, April 25 from 8 AM to 6 PM to accommodate the Wickenden Street Merchants Festival.

Eastbound trips will leave Bus Stop J via Washington Street, turn right onto Memorial Blvd., continue onto Dyer St. through to Eddy St., turn left onto Point St., right onto South Water St., left onto India St., right onto Gano St., left onto Wickenden St., right onto Ives St., left onto Trenton St., left onto Governor St., left onto Wickenden St. left onto Ives St. and then resume regular route.

Westbound trips will leave Riverview Place (formerly East Side Market), travel regular route to the intersection of Ives and Wickenden Streets, turn left onto Wickenden St., right onto Gano St., right onto the I-195 West on-ramp, right at the South Main Street Exit, left onto Point Street, and then resume regular route.
