The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour seven bus routes in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, October 26, 2014 in order to accommodate the Monster Dash 5K Road Race. This road race course will take runners through RIPTA’s historic bus tunnel. Routes 1, 33, 34, 35, 60, 78 and 92 will be detoured from 10:00am until 1:00pm. All RIPTA bus lines are to expect minor delays around Kennedy Plaza between 10:00am and 1:00pm.
The following routes will detour from 10:00am until 1:00pm:
Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit):
Northbound trips will travel the regular route to Bus Stop P, leave via Exchange Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, left onto Brook Street, and then resume regular route.
Southbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, right onto Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street at the corner of Thayer Street.
Route 33 (Riverside):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I- 195 West, right onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the Downtown Exit through to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop F.
Outbound trips will travel leave Bus Stop F via Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp through to I-195 East on-ramp and then resume regular route.
Route 34 (East Providence):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I- 195 West, right onto the I-95 North on-ramp, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto lower Weybosset Street to Bus Stop P.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop P via Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp through to I-195 East on-ramp and then resume regular route.
Route 35 (Rumford):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop G via a right onto Francis Street, right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street at the corner of Thayer Street.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West, right onto I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit to Memorial Boulevard, right onto Steeple Street, and then proceed to Bus Stop O.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop O via a right onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard to the I-95 South on-ramp, travel to 195 East, and then resume regular route.
Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street at the corner of Thayer Street.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop P via Exchange Street, right onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route.
Route 92 (RI/College/Federal Hill/East Side):
Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Thayer and Angell Streets, continue on Angell Street through to Steeple Street and then resume regular route. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Angell Street at the corner of Thayer Street.
Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop L via a right onto Memorial Boulevard, left onto Washington Street, left onto North Main Street, right onto Olney Street, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route.
