The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) is hosting a community meeting to provide an initial overview of plans to improve the overall rider experience at the bus stops near the East Side Tunnel in Providence. The meeting is also intended to solicit ideas and public input on the project. The meeting will be held virtually on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 6pm.
The East Side Tunnel project is intended to create safer pedestrian travel zones, full accessibility at bus stops, and improved passenger amenities while preserving the tunnel’s historic architecture. RIPTA will share conceptual designs for the tunnel entrances and host a discussion on what community members want to see at the areas around the tunnel entrances.
