The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in observance of the Fourth of July. The Sunday/Holiday schedule will apply to all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys. All RIPTA offices, except for the Newport Transportation Center, will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in celebration of the holiday.
In addition, RIPTA will detour Route 60 (Providence/Newport) on Tuesday, July 4, to accommodate the Bristol Fourth of July Parade. The detour will be in effect from 7:45am to 1:00pm on the Fourth of July.
Route 60 (Providence/Newport) Detour
Inbound trips will travel regular route to Bristol Ferry Road, turn right onto Metacom Avenue, left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Hope Street, and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Hope Street and Gooding Avenue, turn left onto Gooding Avenue, right onto Metacom Avenue, bear left onto Bristol Ferry Road, and then resume regular route.
Transportation Centers
The Ticket Window in the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. The RIPTA Customer Service Kiosk in the Newport Transportation Center will be open on the Fourth of July from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm.
Flex Services
Flex Services will not be available on Tuesday, except for Route 203 (URI/Narragansett/ South Kingstown), which will run on the Sunday schedule from 10am to 5pm. The Flex Service reservation line (1-877-906-FLEX) will not be staffed on Tuesday.
RIde Paratransit Program
On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, the RIde Program will operate on a holiday schedule. The RIde program does not provide standing order trips (recurring service) on RIPTA holidays. If you need a ride on the holiday, please call the RIde reservation line (401-461-9760) before July 4 to schedule a trip for the holiday. The RIde reservation line will not be staffed on Tuesday; passengers can leave a detailed voicemail message to reserve trips for the next day.
