RIde Anywhere Pilot Program

The RIde Anywhere pilot program provides door-to-door access anywhere in the state for qualified passengers with disabilities.

This year-long pilot program expands RIPTA’s RIde paratransit program—a shared, reservation only, door-to-door service designed to accommodate people who have disabilities that prevent their independent use of fixed-route bus service. In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), RIde paratransit service operates within ¾ mile on either side of a fixed-route bus stop during the same hours that the fixed-route bus runs.

Since the pilot launched on January 2, 2024, qualified RIde passengers can request trips anywhere in Rhode Island outside the designated service area.

How can I participate in the RIde Anywhere Pilot Program?

You must complete the standard RIde paratransit application and be accepted before you can enroll in the pilot program.

I’m already qualified for RIPTA’s RIde Paratransit Program. Do I need to reapply?

No. If you are already qualified, you can start participating in the pilot program which started January 2, 2024. Simply schedule your trip as you normally do.

How do I schedule a RIde Anywhere trip?

To make a reservation, call (401) 461-9760 between 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Saturday. Reservations may be placed on Sunday by leaving a detailed voicemail message between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. The RIde Office is closed on RIPTA recognized holidays. Be ready to share the following information:

• The date you want to travel.
• Your starting address.
• Your destination address.
• The time you need to arrive at your destination and the time you need to return.

How much does a RIde Anywhere Pilot Program trip cost?

Fare for the pilot is $4.00 one-way, the same as the current RIde paratransit program.

Can you guarantee that my trip request will be accommodated under this pilot program?

While RIPTA’s RIde program may face capacity limitations, and ADA trips must be prioritized, every effort will be made to accommodate RIde Anywhere trip requests.

Can I really travel anywhere?

Yes! Qualified participants can travel to any location in Rhode Island during the pilot.

Can I travel at any time of day?

Trips may be accommodated outside standard hours, depending on availability.
