In January 2022, RIPTA is continuing the effort begun in Fall 2021 to reconfigure the bus service in the West Bay region in an effort to enhance connections and service coverage. RIPTA is asking for public feedback on the service changes listed below. These changes would be gradually phased-in throughout the upcoming service change periods over the next few years. Below is a brief description of each proposed route change.
Route 14 West Bay
- Sunday service between Newport, CCRI-Warwick, Jefferson Blvd. and Providence has been added. Service will operate every 60 minutes from 7am-7pm.
Route 20 Elmwood Ave
- Sunday service would operate every 30 minutes from 9am-6pm.
- Additional weekday trips to New England Tech (Post Road campus) added.
Route 22 Pontiac Ave
- Service would operate until 11pm on Saturdays and 10pm on Sundays & Holidays.
Route 28 Broadway / Hartford
- All trips would serve the front door of the new Market Basket in Johnston.
Route 30 Arlington / Oaklawn
- Service would operate until 11pm on Saturdays and 10pm on Sundays & Holidays.
Route 54 Lincoln / Woonsocket
- All trips would operate on Albion Rd., Powder Hill Rd., and Jenckes Hill Rd. between Lincoln Mall and CCRI Lincoln.
Route 58 Mineral Spring / North Providence
- Service would operate every 65 minutes to improve on-time performance.
Route 63 Broadway/Middletown Shops
- Minor schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance.
Route 73 Mineral Spring / Twin River / CCRI
- Minor re-timings to improve on-time performance.
Route 75 Dexter / Lincoln Mall
- Minor re-timings to improve on-time performance.
Route 76 Central Ave.
- Minor re-timings to improve on-time performance.
Route 80 Armistice Blvd.
- Minor re-timings to improve on-time performance.
Route 87 Fairmount / Walnut Hill
- Weekend service will operate every 40 minutes from 7am-10pm.
281 Woonsocket Flex
- The 281 would include service expanding into Manville.
- Weekend service has been added and would operate from 7am-7pm.
