Kingston Station Transit Hub- Public Meeting

Kingston Station Transit Hub- Public Meeting

November 14, 2024

RIPTA is holding a public meeting regarding proposed improvements to the transit hub at Kingston Station on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Kingston Free Library, located at 2605 Kingston Road, Kingston, RI.

At this meeting, RIPTA staff will present conceptual designs for rider amenities and capital improvements that will support greater transit service capacity and enhanced safety and accessibility for all users.

By investing in this hub, RIPTA seeks to support ridership growth for both RIPTA and Amtrak services as well as safe connections to the adjacent South County Bike Path trailhead. By addressing the growing transportation needs of the community and fostering multimodal connections between bus, rail, and biking, this project supports the goals of Rhode Island’s Transit Forward RI 2040 master plan, Bicycle Mobility Plan, and Long Range Transportation Plan.

“We invite all residents, businesses, and stakeholders to engage in this public meeting,” said Christopher Durand, Interim CEO of RIPTA. “Your insights on current transportation experiences—what is effective, what needs improvement, and what could enhance your travel experience—are invaluable to us. Together, we can create a more efficient, accessible, and sustainable transit system.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the project, ask questions, and provide their input on the proposed plans.
