The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center will be closed on Sunday, November 18, 2018 from 6am to 7pm for maintenance work. Due to construction obstructions at the Providence VA Medical Center, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) beginning immediately until further notice.  Route 56 trips will not service the Providence VA Medical Center until further notice. Passengers will be picked up and dropped off on Chalkstone Avenue instead.
