Virtual Public Meetings Will Be Held Thursday, February 24, and Tuesday, March 8, 2022
The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) will host virtual public meetings on proposed changes to bus service in downtown Providence on Thursday, February 24, and Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
In light of the City of Providence’s proposed changes to reimagine Kennedy Plaza, RIPTA and RIDOT will focus on the development of a new transit center on Dorrance Street. These virtual public meetings are an opportunity for the public to submit their input on the development of this new transit facility.
Passengers are invited to view the proposed changes at RIPTA.com/TransitCenter and submit their feedback at one of several virtual meetings.

“At the direction of Governor McKee, RIPTA will work with RIDOT on creating a new transit center focused on downtown bus service and the passenger experience,” said Scott Avedisian, Chief Executive Officer. “We’re extremely excited about the direction this project has taken, as it presents us with an opportunity to dramatically improve the passenger experience in downtown Providence that we have never had before.”
For passengers and interested parties unable to attend the public meetings, RIPTA will accept written feedback via RIPTA.com/TransitCenter and a dedicated RIPTA voicemail (784-9500 x1101) on the proposed changes through March 11, 2022.
