Providence, Rhode Island, April 28, 2022… The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour multiple bus routes in the Providence area on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2022, to accommodate the Providence Marathon. Routes 50, 55, 56, and 57 will be detoured beginning at 6:30am on Saturday, April 30 through 5pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022. Routes 1, 21, 30, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured on Sunday, May 1, 2022, from the first trip of the day until 3pm. 

The following routes will detour from 6:30am on Saturday, April 30 through 5pm on Sunday, May 1, 2022: 

Route 50 (Douglas Av6e/Bryant University) 

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College) 

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue) 

Route 57 (Smith St) 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Francis Street, continue on Francis Street through to Smith Street and then resume regular route. 

Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street, turn right onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route. 

The following routes will detour on May 1 from the first trip of the day until 3pm: 

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit): 

Southbound trips from Pawtucket will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D. 

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to Bus Stop I. Trips will then turn right onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard through to I-95 North, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Marathon Detours 2022 

Square, cross North Main Street onto Doyle Avenue, turn right onto Hope Street, resume regular route to Hope Street and Pidge Avenue, left onto Pidge Avenue, right onto Pawtucket Avenue through to George Street and then resume regular route.

Route 21 (Reservoir Ave.): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Memorial Boulevard., turn right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop C. 

Outbound trips will travel the regular route. 

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn): 

Please refer to the Route 21 (Reservoir Ave.) detour. 

Route 33 (Riverside): 

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Taunton Avenue, left onto John Street, right onto Taunton Avenue to the I-195 West on-ramp, continue onto I-95 North, take a right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H. 

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, continue onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, right at the Taunton Avenue Exit and then resume regular route. 

Route 34 (East Providence): 

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Warren Avenue, turn right onto I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H. 

Outbound trips will leave Bus Stop H, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, right onto Dorrance Street through to Francis Street, left onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, right at the Warren Avenue Exit, and then resume regular route. 

Route 35 (Rumford/Newport Ave.): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Broadway, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H. 

Outbound trips will turn right onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, continue onto the I-95 South on-ramp to I-195 East, right at the Taunton Avenue Exit, and then resume regular route. 

Route 50 (Douglas Avenue): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to State Street, turn right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route. 

Outbound trips will leave via a right onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street through to Smith Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 51 (Charles Street): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Mill and Smith Streets, turn right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Finance Way, right onto Exchange Street left onto Stillman Street, left onto Park Row West, and then resume regular route. Marathon Detours 2022 

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Exchange Street, turn right onto Stillman Street, left onto Park Row West, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Finance Way, right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket): 

Please refer to Route 51 (Charles Street). 

Route 55 (Admiral Street/Providence College): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Charles Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, continue onto Dorrance Street, and then turn left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop I. 

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Francis Street, turn left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, and then resume regular route. 

Route 56 (Chalkstone Avenue): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Smith Street, turn right onto Francis Street and then resume regular route. 

Outbound trips will turn right onto Dorrance Street, continue onto Francis Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 57 (Smith Street): 

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Smith and Francis Streets, turn right onto Francis Street, continue onto Dorrance Street, and then resume regular route. 

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Francis Street, turn left onto Smith Street and then resume regular route. 

Route 60 (Providence/Newport): 

Inbound trips will travel regular route on I-195 West to I-95 North, take a right off the Exit 22 off-ramp to Francis Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop Y. 

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, continue onto the I-95 South on-ramp to I-195 East, and then resume regular route. 

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls): 

Please refer to Route 51 (Charles Street). 

Route 78 (Beverage Hill): 

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to Taunton Avenue through to I-195 West to I-95 North, right at the Broadway Exit, right onto Empire Street, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H. 

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right 

onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South through to I-195 East, left 

at the Taunton Avenue Exit and then resume regular route. 

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side) EAST: 

Inbound trips leaving from Rhode Island College to East Side Market will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J, turn right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, Marathon Detours 2022 

right onto Dorrance Street, left onto I-95N, right at the State Offices Exit, left onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Square through to Doyle Avenue, right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, right onto Brook Street and then left onto Wickenden Street. Trips will terminate at Fox Point Manor. Trips will not service East Side Market. 

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side) WEST: 

Inbound trips leaving from Fox Point Manor to Kennedy Plaza will travel the regular route to Ives Street, left onto Ives Street, left onto Trenton Street, left onto Governor Street, right onto Wickenden Street, right onto South Main Street to North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street through to Exchange Street, left onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D and then resume regular route to Rhode Island College. 

R-Line (Broad/North Main): 

Southbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of North Main and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D. 

Northbound trips will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J, turn right onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Boulevard, right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Square, left onto North Main Street and then resume regular route.
