The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour six bus routes traveling in Providence on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm to accommodate the Providence Performing Arts Center (PPAC) Square Dedication Ceremony. Mayor Angel Taveras will unveil the recently renovated PPAC Square at 220 Weybosset Street at 11:00 am. Streets and sidewalks in the square have been replaced, and new trees, granite planters, bike racks, ornamental bollards, new benches, and ornamental streetlights were installed, giving visitors and city residents a more welcoming approach to the renowned theater.
The following routes will detour from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on July 11th:
ROUTE 1 (EDDY/GASPEE):
Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Richmond and Point Streets, left onto Point Street, right onto East Franklin Street through to Franklin Street, right onto Washington Street, and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
ROUTE 3 (WARWICK AVE):
Please refer to the Route 1 (Eddy/Gaspee) detour.
ROUTE 13 (ARCTIC/WASHINGTON):
Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Sabin Street and LaSalle Square, left onto LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street, and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
ROUTE 20 (ELMWOOD AVE):
Inbound trips will travel regular route to the intersection of Broad and Empire Streets, left onto Empire Street, right onto Washington Street, right onto Dorrance Street, left onto lower Weybosset Street and then resume regular route.
Outbound trips will travel the regular route.
ROUTE 21 (RESERVOIR):
