The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour sixteen bus routes in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, October 3, 2021 in order to accommodate the Gloria Gemma 5K.  Routes 1, 30, 33, 34, 35, 51, 54,  60, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line will be detoured from 9:30am to 1pm. Route 50, 55, 56, 57 will be detoured from the first trip of the day until 12PM. Memorial Boulevard to South Water Street will be closed during this time.

The following routes will be detoured on Sunday, October 3, 2021:

Route 1 (Eddy/Hope/Benefit)

SOUTH: Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of the East Side Tunnel and North Main Street, right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street, and then resume regular route.

NORTH: Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Street through to Doyle Ave., right onto Hope Street through to Thayer Street, left onto Waterman Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 30 (Arlington/Oaklawn)

Inbound trips will travel the regular routeto Memorial Blvd., right onto Exchange Street, right onto Fulton Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips turn will turn right onto Dorrance Street, continue through to Francis Street, left onto Rte. 10 and then resume regular route.

Route 33 (Riverside) ON DETOUR UNTIL 12PM

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the East Side Tunnel, turn right onto North Main Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Washington Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Street through to Doyle Avenue, right onto Hope Street to Thayer Street and then resume regular route.

Route 34 (East Providence) ON DETOUR UNTIL 12PM

Route 35 (Rumford)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West through to I-95 North, right at Broadway Exit, turn right onto Broadway, right onto LaSalle Square, left onto Fountain Street, right onto Dorrance Street, and then left onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Blvd., continue onto the I-95 South on-ramp to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 50 (Douglas Ave.) ON DETOUR 4AM TO NOON

Inbound trips will travel regular route to State Street, left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips turn left onto Memorial Blvd., right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street and then resume regular route.

Route 51 (Charles Street)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Charles and Smith Streets, right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Finance Way, right onto Exchange Street, left onto Stillman Street, left onto Park Row West, left onto Exchange Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Finance Way, right onto Francis Street, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street and then resume regular route.

Route 54 (Lincoln/Woonsocket)

Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles Street) detour.

Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College) ON DETOUR 4AM TO NOON

Inbound trips will travel regular route to Smith Street, left onto Francis Street and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will travel regular route to Francis Street, continue on Francis Street, turn left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street and then resume regular route.

Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.) ON DETOUR 4AM TO NOON

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of Smith and Francis Streets, turn right onto Francis St. and then resume regular route.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, and then resume regular route.

Route 57 (Smith St.) ON DETOUR 4AM TO NOON

Route 60 (Providence/Newport)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West and South Main Street Exit, continue on I-195 West through to I-95 North, right at the Downtown Exit, right onto Francis Street, and then left onto Exchange Terrace to Bus Stop Y.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Memorial Blvd. to I-95 South through to I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 72 (Weeden/Central Falls)

Please refer to the Route 51 (Charles Street) detour.

Route 78 (Beverage Hill/Newport Ave.)

Inbound trips will travel the regular route to I-195 West through to I-95 North, right at the Point Street Exit, right onto Broad Street through to Weybosset Street, left onto Dorrance Street, and then right onto Washington Street to Bus Stop H.

Outbound trips will turn left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto the I-95 South on-ramp, right onto I-195 East, and then resume regular route.

Route 92 (Federal Hill/East Side)

WEST: Inbound trips from East Side Market will travel the regular route to Wickdenden Street, turn right onto South Main Street, continue onto North Main Street, turn left onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street through to Dorrance Street, left onto Washington Street, right onto Exchange Street, and then right onto Fulton Street to Bus Stop D.

EAST: Inbound trips from Federal Hill will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J.

Outbound trips will leave via a left onto Exchange Street, left onto Exchange Terrace, right onto Francis Street, left onto I-95 South to I-195 East, right at the Gano Street Exit, left onto India Street, right onto Gano Street, left onto Wickdenden Street, right onto Ives Street, left onto Trenton Street, left onto Governor Street, left onto Wickenden Street, left onto Ives Street and then resume regular route.

R-Line (Broad/North Main)

SOUTH: Inbound trips will travel the regular route to the intersection of N. Main and Randall Streets, right onto Randall Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto State Street, right onto Smith Street, left onto Francis Street, left onto Finance Way, right onto Exchange Street, left onto Stillman Street, left onto Park Row West, left onto Exchange Street and then resume regular route.

NORTH: Outbound trips will travel the regular route to Bus Stop J, turn left onto Exchange Street, right onto Stillman Street, left onto Park Row West, left onto Exchange Street, right onto Finance Way, left onto Smith Street, right onto Park Street, right onto Orms Street, left onto Charles Street, right onto Randall Street, left onto N. Main Street and then resume regular route.
