March 12, 2018

Press Releases

Service to Park N’ Ride Lots and Flex Service Suspended on Tuesday, March 13, 2018

In anticipation of a severe winter storm impacting the state on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced that it will not service Park N’ Ride lots on Tuesday and there will also be no Flex Service. Regular weekday bus service is scheduled on Tuesday, but because of the timing of the storm, delays and detours are expected.

Park N’ Ride Routes8X, 9X, 10X, 12x, 59X, 61X, 65X and 95X will not be running tomorrow.  There will also be no Flex Service in the regular Flex Zones of Kingston, Narragansett, Pascoag, South Aquidneck Island, Westerly, West Warwick/Coventry and Woonsocket.

RIPTA is urging passengers to prepare for the storm by signing up for electronic service updates at https://www.ripta.com/service-alerts.  The information will also be available on www.RIPTA.com and RIPTA’s social media outlets (Facebook @RideRIPTA ,Twitter @RIPTA_RI). Passengers are urged to monitor news reports as well.

RIPTA is also advising passengers to be prepared for delays in service and the possibility of service being suspended if it becomes no longer safe to travel.  Passengers are asked to plan accordingly and to please remember that safety is RIPTA’s top priority.

RIde Paratransit Passengers:  If RIPTA finds it necessary to suspend service, all RIde trips will also be suspended.

As the storm moves through New England tomorrow, RIPTA will be working with state emergency officials. RIPTA’s emergency preparedness plan focuses first on safety and second on attempting to accommodate as many passengers as possible traveling within Rhode Island.
